Everything Hiring Radar keeps in your browser, what it's for and how long it stays. There isn't much.

[01]In short

  • We use cookies only to keep you logged in and to keep logging in secure.
  • The app also keeps two small notes in your browser: your help chat while the tab is open, and whether you've seen the welcome.
  • No advertising, tracking or analytics cookies, and nothing from social networks or ad companies.
  • If you only visit our public pages and don't log in, we don't put anything in your browser.

[02]What cookies are

Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. Browsers can also keep small notes for a website in “local storage” (kept until you clear it) or “session storage” (gone when you close the tab). The law treats them all the same way, so this page lists all three.

[03]What we use

sb-…-auth-token

Type
Cookie (ours)
What it does
Keeps you logged in, and tells our server who you are, so you only ever see your own account. Large logins are split into parts ending .0, .1 and so on.
How long
400 days, renewed each time you visit. Removed when you log out.
Who gets it
People who log in.
Needed?
Strictly necessary: without it you can't log in.

Login link

sb-…-auth-token-code-verifier

Type
Cookie (ours)
What it does
When you ask for a login link, makes sure the link only works in the browser that asked for it, so nobody else can use it. It comes with two small helper cookies with similar names.
How long
Removed when you log in with the link, or when you log out. Otherwise your browser drops it within 400 days.
Who gets it
People asking for a login link.
Needed?
Strictly necessary: it keeps logging in secure.

Help chat

hiring-radar-help-v2

Type
Session storage (this tab only)
What it does
Keeps your conversation with Ask for help, and any walk-through it's showing you, while you move between pages.
How long
Until you close the browser tab.
Who gets it
People who use Ask for help in the app.
Needed?
Strictly necessary for the help chat you opened.

Welcome shown

hiring-radar-welcomed-v1

Type
Local storage (this browser)
What it does
Remembers that this browser has already shown you the welcome, so it doesn't open again on every visit. It holds only the date and time it was shown.
How long
Until you clear this site's data in your browser.
Who gets it
New users, in their first week.
Needed?
Makes the app work as you'd expect. Nothing about you, and never sent anywhere.

All of these belong to hiring-radar.app. None are shared with other websites or used to follow you around the internet.

[04]What we don't use

  • No analytics or visitor-counting tools.
  • No advertising or retargeting cookies.
  • No social media buttons or embedded videos that set their own cookies.
  • Our fonts are served from our own website, not loaded from anyone else's.
  • Company logos in the app are fetched from the websites that host them. When we checked, none of them set cookies.

[05]Do you need to agree?

No. UK law asks websites to get your agreement before using cookies, except where they're needed for a service you've asked for, or for small things that make the site work for you. Everything above falls into those, and none of it tracks you, so there's no cookie banner to accept or decline.

If we ever want to add anything that isn't essential, we'll ask you first and update this page.

[06]Removing them

You can delete cookies and site data for hiring-radar.app in your browser's settings at any time. If you remove the login cookie you'll be logged out, and you can log in again with a new link or code. Removing the welcome note just means the welcome may show once more. Blocking cookies altogether stops you logging in.
